We have certainly been busy these past few months. We have had a steady flow of Need-Greaters coming through the Branch either to stay on Guam or move on to another island of Micronesia. We have had our district convention at the Univ. of Guam Field House which required a major clean-up indoors and outdoors. But we are excited to say that for the first time ever on Guam all the congregations met together for a one weekend district convention. There are 662 pubs on Guam and there were 1269 in attendance on Sunday afternoon. The UoG staff were beside themselves. One staff member remarked that in the 17 years he's been there, he had never seen an event coordinated like this with so many willing volunteers and happy, peaceful attendees. They also said they have never seen the field house look so clean. They said they would be delighted if we would like to use their facility for future events. We just might take them up on that offer!
We also had our Regional Engineering Office Overseer, and his wife, from Australia visiting for four weeks to work with the KHC Desk and give encouraging talks to the IS's here along with visiting the KHCGroup out in the outer islands. So Jared was off to Saipan again for a few days with the Gills.
Besides his talk in the district convention, his 4 week training with his overseer, coordinating the contract for UoG, and tending to the needs of the Group, Jared has projects here at the branch to oversee with 8 new IVs coming in to do work on room renovations.
All this being said, now you know why he is sitting in the photo below! Actually, they were all sitting at one point, but the Palauan man with no shirt on is chewing beetlenut and had to get up so he could spit away from Jared and Shem. Lovely! It was a great call just the same.
