Continental Airlines has a monopoly on Micronesian air travel. The only flight to get to these islands under Guam Branch territory is on a flight we call the island hopper. (I mentioned it back in January when we went to Majuro for 10 days.) Anyway it flies from Guam to Chuuk to Pohnpei to Kosrae to Kwjalein to Majuro and the same route back. Five take-offs and five landings on the smallest runways you will ever see. We are on our second stop on our 10 day trip- Pohnpei -in these photos. The KH Construction team will be doing work on every one of these islands. But before they do, permits need to be approved, land acquired, lawyers retained, landowners met and a whole bunch of other stuff. So this trip is a small part of all that. This shot: as a result of the KM announcement back in Feb09, over 70 individuals have responded to the need for qualified brothers, and more just keep on coming. Some have been assigned here to Pohnpei...and just in time. Instead of two missionaries/elders trying to organize the entire new KH construction project and conduct all the meetings and do all the Pohnpeian lit translation and the ministry, they now have 7 elders to help. Jared (KHCDesk) and Alan (KHCGroup) met with all the brothers while all us girls got together and huddled around a laptop to watch a movie...something about a train, a dog and the queen of England... anyway, the trip was great.
